About Me and Menie
Stephanie Bell-Boissonneault, a writer of sorts. In December of 2007, my husband, and I bought what most probably will be our last restoration project. The house is a typical Gothic Revival stone house built in 1870. It is situated outside of Campbellford, Ontario in what was once part of the hamlet of Menie.
It was not until after we moved into the house that we discovered several interesting facts about the original homesteaders. These tie us to the house through distant family, strange as it may seem.
The house was in need of much work and still is but we have made it our mission. Even if it kills us, and some days we think it just might.
Since this is the largest undertaking we have ever made I thought it might be interesting to write about all the trials and tribulations that have gone along with it. The actual work itself as well as the transformation from the bustling life of Montréal to the rural setting we have chosen in retirement. I hope you will enjoy this blog intended to be both a document of the transformations we have made and a glimpse into the history that surrounds this visually stunning rural area of Eastern Ontario.
Enjoy the ride!
